We had a great turnout of over 80 members and guests for the first meeting of the 2003/4 season. Click on any of the pictures for full size, and hit your browser back button to return.
Lots of people took advantage of the opportunity to renew their membership, and have a chat with other hams.
As a few others have done in the past, Bob VE3EIM brought in a few surplus items to sell in an impromptu flea market.
Incoming President Mark Bramwell, VE3PZR had some opening comments. To save expenses and not have to raise membership fees in the face of rising cost, the executive has decided to eliminate the printed and mailed newsletter. A monthly email newsflash will be sent out instead, so make sure we have your current email when you renew. The larc website www.larc.ca will also be kept as up to date as possible and along with the newsflash and announcements on local on the air nets, will be the primary communication vehicle for disseminating information to the club members.
Mark introduced the new executive for 2003/4, and each said a few words. From left to right, Vice-President Tom Cobban VA3TAC, Secretary Brian Bouckley VA3ATB, Treasurer Anthony Drawmer VE3SQU, Membership Carlo Cervoni VE3CVA, ARES Coordinator Scott Carter VE3CGN, Past President David Young VE3EAY and Flea Market Committee chair Jeff Peacock, VE3IOS. Director Norman Campbell VE3MNC and Director Paul Kobler VE3VEV were not able to make the meeting.
An excellent presentation, Building and Maintaining Club Membership (click here for an online pdf copy) was made by PAUL CASSEL VE3SY.Paul VE3SY was first licensed in 1961 with the call VE3AVY that he still holds.
