Sun Sep 27 LARC 32nd Annual Flea Market. Open to public from 9AM to 1PM at the Western Fair Special Events building, $6 admission. LARC participates in the London Scouting Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) at Spencer Lodge on Windermere Road. Volunteers needed to demonstrate and explain our hobby to youngsters from 8AM to 4PM.

LARC Meeting - London Hydro hosts a control room tour, Presentation by Deputy Fire Chief Dan Oldridge on the Fire Department's radio network, and a presentation by Michael Martin from IBM on the Smart Meters being introduced by London Hydro. LARC Meeting - Presentation by Dave Lambert, VE3KGK entitled Jamaican Journey - the story of a DX-pedition to Jamaica operating as 6Y5KG. The Powerpoint presentation is big, 35MB, due to all the pictures.

LARC Meeting - Bob Rice. VE3HKY describes his 7 Band Semi-Vertical antenna which was recently written up in RAC's TCA magazine. Bob's website describes the antenna construction, and a British antenna evaluation praised the design (40 years ago). Here's Bob's Powerpoint presentation (8.8 MB).

GARC & KWARC Central Ontario Hamfest, Cambridge
Thu Jun 10 LARC Meeting - Jim & Tim Spicer (VE3CTS, VE3TJS) explore Terrestrial Digital Television and the Digital Transition.  On June 12, 2009 all full power television stations in the United States had to complete the transition from analog (NTSC) to digital (ATSC) broadcasting. On August 31, 2011 a similar transition is scheduled to take place in Canada. Come out to the meeting to learn about terrestrial digital TV, learn the truth about some common myths and see a live demo. Their presentation as a 1.6 MB pdf file can be found here.
