This year's ham of the year is Archie Van de Velde VE3PTV.
The award is presented to Archie VE3PTV (left) by President Charles McNeil VA3FCM (center) and Past President David Young VE3EAY.
Archie is a relatively new ham, having passed his basic in 1998, his 5 wpm in 1999, his 12 wpm in spring 2000 and advanced in the fall of 2000.
He is registered as an accredited examiner, teaches a basic ham radio course, is involved in ARES, CANWARN and actively promotes the hobby to anyone he meets.
Archie is truly an example for new hams everywhere, and has truly earned the distinction of Ham Of The Year for 2002.
